Why skaters like it

Go-to answer in r/NewSkaters when someone asks about exercises, stretching or avoiding injury, especially adult skaters coming back to a board.

“… Yoga for skaters! It's definitely helping me. Hoping i'll get injured less if I have a bit of flexibility. …”

Yeah, listen to yourself, what feels good and what is fun. Just enjoy yourself and try to keep improving. If you feel like you are not progressing for a while, just keep at it, you might just not notice. I found it helpful to work out a little and eat well, to support my body. And I also do yoga [VIDEO] after every session. Namaste and good luck dude!

I'm 6'2", 195 lbs and 30 years old. Your psoas are just super, super tight. I never had this issue when I skated hours per day every day in my teens, but now it's bad. This happened to me as soon as I started skating again a few weeks ago, thankfully it's slowly getting better. My tips: - Foam roll before every skate session (usually just 10 rolls (up and down) per muscle group is fine). r/bodyweightfitness has guides for foam rolling if you've never done it, otherwise there might be an r/foamrolling? - Warm up your muscles/body after foam rolling. I do 20 jumping jacks, run in place for 20 seconds, and do 10-20 air squats. Some people jump rope which might work too. - Warm up/Go through the motions of your joints. So I do circles with my ankles, rock up and down on heels/tippie toes, do butt kicks, leg swings, and then slow motions through my hip. Then just quick lower back bends and twists. r/bodyweightfitness also has great guides for warming up joints - Spend first 10 minutes of your skate session riding around a bit and doing a few ollies to get warmed up - Go have fun and skate - AFTER your skate session, stretch a lot. I like these two videos ([VIDEO] and [VIDEO]), and am go…
