Sure - great advice - learn how to fall, but protection can't hurt - and as I said, it helps with confidence - two different points of view from the same instructor: [VIDEO] [VIDEO] To each his own....

I wear triple eight sweatsaver helmet, and the rest are 187 pads. The 187 pro knee pads are the business when sliding down big transitions. Make sure you practice knee slides for safety if you're considering riding any kind of ramp: Part 1: [VIDEO] Part 2: [VIDEO]

I found "skatepark lessons" on youtube, and started practicing bails on knee pads. It made me stop slipping out backwards. So I support wearing helmet and pads for protection, but also for better form when riding. Here's one of the videos: [VIDEO]_

Kneepads and learn how to use them: [VIDEO]

Kneepads and kneeslides [VIDEO] are the best way to bail. Transition skaters practice kneeslides [VIDEO]....it's less popular for street, but then street folks are often anti-any-pad. For that clip, if you had kneepads and were confident about using them, you could have kneeslid out... just wearing kneepads doesn't work, you have to practice and make a kneeslide an automatic reaction.
