Why skaters like it

Posted when new skaters ask how to fall safely. Commenters point to hand position and relaxing on impact as lessons that carry over to a board.

“Never reach for the ground and always tuck your chin is some of the best advice though.”

Judo people have been practicing how to fall for a long time. Look at what they are doing with their hands. OP needs to fall like that to avoid breaks. [VIDEO]

Watch some videos on break falls from judo or BJJ classes. Never reach for the ground and always tuck your chin is some of the best advice though. [VIDEO] A good example of this in case anyone wants to doubt, at the end the judoka body slams himself on cement.
