Well, by intentional but controlled falling to get used to rolls, knee pads slide and keeping your knees and elbows bent. [VIDEO]
Don't get me wrong, still very much a beginner but when i first started, before i even stepped on the board, i got pads and practised jumping off things to practise falling before i get hurt, so you can fall and roll but not get hurt. also get bum pads, they do honestly save your tailbone How to fall: [VIDEO]
1) Don’t try to stop yourself, keep the energy moving in the same direction and roll. Tuck/bend your arms - try your best not to fall on an outstretched hand! 2) It’s better to fall while moving rather than trying to do a trick stationary (or moving slowly) because the energy is going in a direction that is not just straight down. 3) Practice falling safely so it becomes muscle memory. YOU’RE GOING TO FALL, so practice first so you don’t get hurt and can keep skating without having to take time off. Here are some good videos: [VIDEO] [VIDEO] [VIDEO] [VIDEO]
Give yourself room to grow. It takes the time it takes. I am in the same position as you and I feel a little more confident every time I get on. Just don't let fear hold you back too much. Once you slip and see how you can catch yourself most of the time without even actually falling down, you'll get more comfortable. Also, be sure you are relaxed, yeah? Sick board. This video helped me too. Maybe it will also help you and others. [VIDEO]
