I wholeheartedly agree with that. Especially the slapping of the ground with your arms is crucial when you fall without any momentum. It helps breaking the fall [VIDEO]

Here's a tip from a martial artist. Fall like a martial artist. Here's a great video that should definitely help. [VIDEO]

[VIDEO] Those are approximately the falls I'm talking about. I personally think his technique is sloppy but I'm sure it will get the job done. I would also recommend practicing rolling over your shoulder. This is a small step beyond the falls above. I tried to find a good video but every single one was a bit less than ideal. Oof, hope you're OK. It's too late now, but as I understand it you should try your best *not* to catch yourself with your hand as that's a great way to break your wrist. Instead, try and twist your torso so you land on your side and distribute the weight across your side and arm [VIDEO]. It also helps to turn your head do you don't land have first, but I'm pretty sure you know that now haha

If you want to use your arms you need to know how to kind of roll off your hand, then to your elbow and shoulder but its still risky if you mess it up and could lead to broken wrist/arm and only works well if you have pads. The best way to land is basically a judo side or backfall as shown here. [VIDEO]

Practicing falling without putting your arms out to stop you should help. Here's a video on how to fall from a judo instructor for example: [VIDEO] You don't need to slap the ground like in Judo, but everything else applies.
