Beginner ollie tutorial from WildeFireContent (2021). Builds the ollie in steps: start with a wheel-less carpet board, add wheels, move to pavement with pads and helmet, then roll.

Why skaters like it

Gets linked in r/NewSkaters whenever someone asks why their ollie won't leave the ground. Stresses jumping up and popping with the ankle, plus a gradual drill.

“You gotta jump! You're not jumping! You're barely unweighting. Boards not gonna leave the ground if you're standing on it.”

If it isn’t comfortable riding around on, like you feel like your teeth are going to be shaken from your skull, get softer, slightly larger wheels. I didn’t enjoy riding around (uk pavement) and it always put me off. Got some ricta cloud 86a 56mm wheels and it’s a dream. Also look up typical Ollie tutorials but make sure you watch and internalise this one [VIDEO] This is what made the difference for me and in a day I

OK, chill out, there's a lot of work to do. It doesn't look like you are too comfortable on the board. Please don't think of the ollie as being something you tick off a checklist, an achievement for its own sake, or "the foundation of all skateboarding", that's just bollocks. It's part of your journey, it keeps improving as you try new things, it feeds into other tricks and feeds off other tricks. Don't think you can

No, don't think of it like that. You need to jump. And when you jump, you need to snap your back ankle more to drive the tail into the ground. And you need to stop rushing the slide. You aren't jumping high enough, and you aren't using your ankle enough to send the tail into the ground. You can practice this even on the ground. Jump and point your back toes down. Do this over and over and then get back onto the board

Check out this video [VIDEO], it does a great job of really breaking down what makes an ollie work and how to get the motion down

Check out this video: [VIDEO] And **you must** check out this one: [VIDEO] From what I can tell, you're squatting down but not actually utilising the power you get from that because when you try to pop the board, your leg's almost already straight again. Your back foot doesn't and shouldn't stamp down to the ground - as shown in the second video, your foot should pop the board down but you should already be jumping b
