A 51 second Skate IQ short with a rolling drill for beginners learning to ollie. It teaches jumping off the tail and popping while the board moves, rather than practicing on grass or stationary.

Why skaters like it

Posted in r/NewSkaters whenever someone struggles with a first ollie. Commenters use it to fix pop timing and to get people off the grass and onto pavement.

I would say its time to get off the grass and get on the pavement. I recommend this drill, it'll help you with jumping and popping comfortably on the board: while its moving [VIDEO] It will also teach you the correct pop timing

Begin by learning hippy jumps and manuals. You can start slowly by doing tiny hippy jumps and manuals and build your way up. Pretty good video to follow once you do: [VIDEO]

Honestly just watch some of this guy's videos and get comfortable on your board. Have fun out there. [VIDEO]

[VIDEO] Right now you are jumping off the tail, i.e. you are pinning the tail to the ground and then trying to muscle out an ollie. You need your weight to stay around the back truck when you jump, and you need to delay any tilting of the board enough that your back foot never presses the board between it and the ground. Lift the front foot straight up at first, possibly even slightly backwards, before you can start
