I find it easier to control the unweighting of the back foot by squatting a little more. The pivot can come from the hips or shoulders, but the controlled ones should come from hips and legs and "pushing through" with your leg. Take a look at SkateIQs video explaining it. I've been skating for over 35 years. There is not a single person who would teach someone to ollie and tell them that their back foot is responsible for keeping the tail glued to it (other than pointing out that they aren't popping well or timing pop well). Just go watch any tutorial by anyone who knows. The front foot's job is to stop the board from rising at the point you want it to stop and lifting the tail up, an

It’s all about the shoulders/hips and the wind up. Two parts to focus on. When winding up, you don’t want to overdo it. The force comes from the hips, you want to wind up but want your hips to not go past the board. However, you want your shoulders to continue going until you’re facing backwards as you pop. Once you pop you’ll want to “push” the back foot through to finish the rotation, aligning your hips with the sh
