Short Skate IQ tutorial from Mitchie Brusco arguing that sliding your front foot kills pop on an ollie. He says to lift the front foot as you jump and let the board rise.

Why skaters like it

Linked in r/NewSkaters whenever a beginner struggles with ollie height or the slide step. Skaters say it fixed years of bad advice about sliding.

“Sliding as advice held me back for so long. If it works for you, cool, but none of my good ollies ever felt like I was sliding, and I was so god damn glad when I saw this video”

Try this: Instead of sliding your front foot. Lift it up. When you're jumping up and popping, LIFT that front foot. You're doing exactly what Mitchie Brusco is saying to fix in this video: Stop Sliding Your Foot When You Ollie! [VIDEO]

Learning too so take with a grain of salt, but I had a similar stage with Ollies. You’re jumping a good height but blocking the board with your front foot. Let it “rocket” some more before trying to flatten it out. Heres a video describing what Im talking about [VIDEO]

Hell yeah man. One tip I got that is really good for an Ollie is don't worry about sliding that front foot so much. It's causing you to push the board down into the ground killing your potential height. Keep that same balance but try and just get that front foot out of the way to start, once you have some height start pushing your front foot into the nose to level out the back. This guy has some great videos send him

Check this out from SkateIQ’s YouTube shorts. He’s helped me correct so many things I didn’t know I was mentally doing. This Ollie tip really put it into perspective: [VIDEO] Also, you’ll want to suck up your back foot up more as it’s limiting your front foot from pushing front the Ollie for your back foot. These short looks to be the correction from your video: [VIDEO] [VIDEO]

This sub recommends SkateIQ tutorials a lot and he teaches to not "slide" your front food forwards but to "pull" your front foot up and inwards (he says it in most of his videos actually, see : this short [VIDEO]). I was actually completely unable to even bring the back wheels off the ground before I watched him. So should I be sliding my foot or not?

[VIDEO] [VIDEO] ☝️ this right here. And anything else you have questions about you can find on this channel, street, flatland and vert. Mitchum Brusco has a very good way of breaking things down in easily digestible chunks. Also Mitchie Brusco is also a top notch bonafide world class skater himself and hit the worlds first 1260 and not just some guy who skates. (No hate on those channels) [VIDEO]
