Braille Skateboarding explains how a hospital flip differs from a casper flip. Both are half flips that get flipped back, but the foot that does the flip back is different.

Why skaters like it

Posted whenever someone mislabels a half flip variation. Skaters use it to settle the hospital flip versus casper flip argument.

“Hospital flip is as shown here, half flip and flipped back with your front foot. Casper flip is different, think about Rodney’s Casper slide.”

[VIDEO] Actually, that's a hospital flip. Still cool though.

Looks more like a Casper-flip to me! ([VIDEO] )Where you do a Casper, but then mid air instead of on the ground (still sick and super duper hard) *edit* i looked a bit more cuz i got confused, and indeed you do a hospital flip!! (pure front foot movement), Whereas a half casper flip would be done by using the back foot to movee the board [VIDEO]

actually there is a difference between hospital and Casper flip [VIDEO] Hospital flip is as shown here, half flip and flipped back with your front foot. Casper flip is different, think about Rodney’s Casper slide. It’s a half flip and you flip back with your back foot in position like a Casper slide but in the air

For any trick to be considered a Casper flip variation, it requires two things: 1. You have to be in Casper stance [LINK]. 2. A Casper flip has all the scoop happening with your back foot. The Hospital flip has all the scoop action happening with your **front foot** because your backfoot is supposed to step off the board, no-comply style.
