You're kicking forward too much before flicking. This causes the board to go up (the kick) and then be pushed away on the flick. You want the board to go up and barrel roll at the same time. Try flicking more toward the concave. An ollie works because you foot grabs the concave made for the nose pointing up. Basically, you're pulling yourself up with your foot. A kickflip works because when you pull up, you hit the a

Currently your muscle memory is causing you to flick directly off the side of the board. The longer you spend doing it, the more that muscle memory becomes more deeply ingrained. What you want to do is to stop using that technique immediately, so you can begin to reverse and effectively unlearn that bad habit as soon as possible. I mean it will help a bit but not nearly as much as you think it will. Your shoe will sorta make an arrow if you're flicking in the right spot. I hate braille but this is what i'm talking about [VIDEO]. Good luck on the kickflips! the big tip I learned that most of the tutorials tend to gloss over to get them consistently was flick out with your front foot and move your back foot straight up.

Aha, well if it turns into a kickflip by misstske try standing on the tail and just practice the motion of the flick over and over and over again, until it almost becomes automatic, like at about 0:45 in this how to kickflip video by braille. You'll get it eventually, keep killing it ! [VIDEO]

Work on the flick, it's almost non existent. IMO how I used to drill this was to stand on the tail so the boards up and just slide my foot over and over again [VIDEO] flicking through the nose. Once you have the motion down, then try putting it together.
