Rat Vision tutorial from 2011 arguing that balancing a skateboard deck so weight is even helps skaters flip tricks more consistently. Mentions Chris Cole, Mike Mo, Rodney Mullen and Daewon Song as examples.

Why skaters like it

Gets linked in threads about balancing decks, usually with skepticism. Commenters question the claims, so it works as the starting point for a debate about whether deck balance matters.

I wouldn't, just skate it. If it really bothers you, get a new deck. Take a picture, how bad is it? I skated decks with razortail and it's not that bad, unless it smashes a curb and chips (the razortail weakens the wood and makes it prone to chipping through direct slams like that, but you can still pop ollies up curbs and over things with a razortailed deck). As long as it's not squaring off from the top ply / losin

uhhhh...... skateboards aren't race cars or space shuttles. we don't *need* that level of precision in our "equipment." plus, manufacturing stuff to the tolerances that this dude is demanding would raise the prices of skate equipment significantly, since quality control measures as well as manufacturing equipment and techniques would have to be upgraded. dude has some ocd issues, i think.
