Why skaters like it
Gets linked in r/NewSkaters whenever someone asks why their ollie is low. Commenters say it reframed pop as a flick, with a fix for the back foot.
“I just started learning and this video from Skate IQ completely changed what I thought I needed to do to pop an Ollie. I was thinking of it as stomping my tail into the ground”

I’ve been skating on and off for almost 40 years and this videos has improved my ollies more than decades of practice [VIDEO]
I am kind of struggling with the same problem, but I think I have found a fix. What I think might be happening is the tail running into your back foot. Maybe try to bring your back foot up faster. Or snapping your back foot more towards the back...you could also watch skate IQ's latest video on ollies. He tackles this exact issue there, if I remember correctly. Anyways...let me know if it works :) Link: [VIDEO]
Don't try to do monster Ollies, start out relaxed and just jumping and trying to get the movement locked into your muscle memory. If you try to pop it huge every time before you have the sequence and muscle memory right you're just gonna frustrate yourself and tire yourself out fast Good overall help with drills that do help *but you gotta actually do them!* [VIDEO] Talks about pop but Ollie is center [VIDEO]
I just started learning and this video from Skate IQ [VIDEO] completely changed what I thought I needed to do to pop an Ollie. I was thinking of it as stomping my tail into the ground but thinking of it more as a using my foot to flick it into the ground made it click way more.
I mean, you actually has a pretty good form. Now check this video "Get More Pop on Your Skateboard [VIDEO]" and rip those legs up fast.
check out what Mitchie says in this video about the back foot at 8:17 [VIDEO] do that
Sometimes we forget an Ollie is basically a jump. He‘s just not jumping high enough to clear that manual pad, the board has nowhere to go under him. He needs to pull his legs up in order to allow the board to travel upwards. Also give the board more time to actually get up there before stomping, this video [VIDEO] should help him out.
Consider this: [VIDEO] if you want better pop. Many people forget that speed is much more important than strength in this case.
