Trick tutorial from Nollie Skateboarding on the backside 180 ollie, shown with 3D graphics. Covers how the board and body turn 180 degrees during the ollie. Part 7 of a series, after frontside 180 and before varial kickflip.

Why skaters like it

Linked in r/NewSkaters threads when beginners struggle to get backside 180s clean or stop them stalling at 90 degrees. The 3D graphics make the rotation easy to see.

It helps if you are able to do them, but you don't need them consistent. But, I would say getting BS 180s should be a high priority trick to get down consistent. Some things that helped me: * Don't lean towards your toe edge, make sure you jump straight up. * Focus on doing a proper leveled out ollie, not getting the full rotation from the start is less important. Trying to make the front foot land just where the nose starts curving up may help you remember to slide your foot up. * Land with a bit more weight towards the nose. This makes them feel safer, and allows you to do a small pivot if you don't get the full rotation. To land with weight towards the nose, it helps if your weight is towards the tail when you begin popping. * Use counter rotation to get the last 90 degrees of rotation. This means turning your shoulder so you're facing and looking backward from the direction of travel when landing. This tutorial helped me a lot: [VIDEO]

Anyone knows how to stop this trick at 90 degree mid air? It’s one of the most frustrating fundamental trick for me. Been watching this vid [VIDEO] But my back 180s always ends up like a pop shuv with a body varial instead of a proper 180. I always wanted to have this trick down proper for back tails, bs flips etc in the future but I have trouble figuring out how to get height and control on them, mine feels more like pop shuv 180s instead of ollie 180.
