Regular Jason explains how to powerslide on flat ground in 51 seconds. He frames it as a stepping stone to slides SF skaters do while hill bombing.

New skaters in r/NewSkaters link it when asking how to powerslide, and one says they landed a first powerslide on flat ground by following it.

Oh im learning it on flat ground for now haha, i found it easier to do my first powerslide there. I just watched this video [VIDEO] and i basically just did what he said + what the other comments said. Im also not consistent at it at all but im sure u and i can both do it with enough practice! Good luck and all the best!!

first let me say that make sure your reverts are comfortable before doing these. they don't take long to figure out if you haven't yet. otherwise, there's a sweet spot with leaning back and when you're learning it's always farther back than you initially think. there's momentum pushing you forward so you need to have your center balance behind your board instead of over it like normal. you can see from this short how far back he is leaning a lot of his body. it also helps if you go faster for this and on smooth ground. going slow won't really work. depending on the ground too it may or may not be easy to learn. skatepark with smooth ground will be easier. sidewalk/concrete type pavement will be difficult cause it grips harder. different ground types grip differently so try it in different places. i can easily powerslide at the courthouse near me but at my friends place where the asphalt is brand new it's too sticky to powerslide easily without basically needing to relearn that sweet spot. try some of these things and see how it goes.
