What skaters said on Reddit
Went and practiced these pretty hard last night (on asphalt too which I a bit more challenging—really forced me to have a good technique). I would like to switch and say that the best foot position is your front foot over your front wheels and back foot in the pocket/on the tail. The most important part of the slide is standing up/sort of hopping to take some weight off of the board and pushing the tail forward. That makes the slide feel reeeaaaal smooth and gave me way more control that having both feet in the pocket of the board; it also means I come out of the slide in riding position which is a lot cleaner too. This tutorial [VIDEO] was by far the most helpful. Just remember to wind up, get some weight off the board, and lean back and you’ll be sliding in no time.
[VIDEO] this is the video which taught me powerslides. I found it easier to learn reverts before powerslides so I could get used to sliding my wheels and shifting my weight, I hope this helps.
