Okay, I'll give you a rundown on some of the tips I've ~~stolen~~ come up with, and learned in the short time I've been skating! Trick tips: * Learn to Ollie, it's the basis behind a lot of flip tricks and without it, you'll be left helpless when you find a three inch curb you want to jump up onto! Although the Ollie definitely is an important stepping stone to skating, don't let it take over your life like cocaine d

Gotta push it a fair amount, but it's all in the shoulders and hips! You have to be going decently fast, and then turn your shoulders and hips towards the way you want to power slide and the board will go with you. It doesn't hurt to put a little more weight on the nose. Make sure to sit back in a squat-like stance or else you'll fall forward! [VIDEO]

You simply use your shoulders and hips to torque the board sideways and then the wheels slide and you are brought to a stop Here is myself mid-powerslide [LINK] (ignore the gloves, we were downhill skating and the gloves are for doing special slides to stop very fast in an emergency) Here is a video on how to powerslide [VIDEO]

Running off your board should be a last resort if you really don't think you can stop yourself. Putting your foot down when you're not going too fast isn't the worst habit but you should try and learn to powerslide. This [VIDEO] is a super gnarly example but you get the idea. It's all about turning your board 90º to slow your momentum it's all in the shoulders. Check out this [VIDEO] tutorial for some help.

What bones have you got? To hold the slide out you want to take a wide carve into it, squat and lean back, if you do it from standing (and too slow) you'll just lean off. You have to get low and kick out (think of exploding into a starfish shape) then suck it back in by getting low again while twisting your shoulders back. Look where you want to go, don't spin your shoulders the whole way or you'll 180. I really don'

My main issue is not quite knowing how it's done. Is it more like a 90 degree kickturn or is more of a leaning on the board and kicking? From this video [VIDEO] it appears that it's the latter, but it's hard to tell because I can't even get the board to move when I try it like this.
