How to clean bearings [VIDEO]. I just shake them around in isopropyl alcohol to get the grime out, dry them out in front of a fan for like 15 minutes (alcohol evaporates fairly quick) and use a few drops of Bones Speed Cream per bearing.

Is the nut over tightened? Does it have a washer between the nut and bearing? I would loosen the nut until the wheel spins more freely. Take a video of that and move the wheel to see how much play it has. I think a little play is ok. Check the 7:30 mark in the video. [VIDEO]

[VIDEO] Should just need a little lube, bones sells some. Don't use wd-40. You have to clean them before you notice something is up, if the ball bearings get damaged, cleaning can't fix them.

Remarkably, it was not only a flat shield but it held all the balls in place... This is their instructional vid and I cannot see him removing the red shields. [VIDEO] He even says "remove the inner part".
