Gets linked in r/NewSkaters threads when someone is stuck on kickflips or unsure where to flick. One commenter points to 2:44 for back foot timing.

“… Starting about 2:44 he talks about the back foot. His back foot touches the board before the front foot. If you get your back foot on sooner maybe you can use it to put the board down where you want it?”

The kickflip is generally the first flip trick to learn and it opens the floodgates for other kickflip related tricks. Here is an in-depth tutorial on how to kickflip, breaking down the mechanics and individual motions for each foot. Even though the learning curve is steep, once it starts to click it becomes automatic muscle memory any you'll want to start kickflipping everything in sight. Good luck and have fun! [VIDEO]
