Just don't get in the way of people and they won't give a damn. Nobody minds somebody being new or "bad". They were new and "bad" before. But they do mind people not being aware of what's going on around them. (This is where the scooter hate comes from, since little kids don't really have that much social awareness, and oftentimes scooters are kids. Course, hating a whole sport because of tendencies of younger folk is rather dumb.) If you're nervous about this, watch people. See what they do, look for the flow of the park and when/where runs start and end. Hell, if you're not even anxious socially, you can literally just ask somebody about something/someone and they'll let you in on what you should be doing. Every park and city's skate culture is different, so even as an experienced skater, it's polite to do all of the above at _any_ new skatepark. This video by my local shop [VIDEO] is also packed with good info when it comes to etiquette and actually skating.

Tactics has a good video on what you need to know at the skate park [VIDEO]; etiquette / unspoken rules, tips for how to hit features etc. Like others said, you don't need to sweat it! People are there to skate, not to judge you. Just follow the advice in that video and don't bite off more than you can chew! Take it easy and work your way up to each feature you try. Also pad up! I was so glad I did the first time I hit the park; would've been banged up so badly if I hadn't
