VLSkate (Vilas Left) walks through how to ollie in under six minutes. First video in his how-to series, covering foot position, pop, slide and landing.

Why skaters like it

Posted on r/NewSkaters whenever someone asks how to get an ollie to stick. Commenters say it breaks the trick down clearly with no filler.

“This is my go-to video for working on ollies. He really breaks it down in a clear way, with no nonsense”

You're not sliding your left foot up the board. It has to make contact with your board. You're basically just lifting up your foot. You need to slide the foot. Watch these videos: [VIDEO] [VIDEO]

This is THE best video, in my opinion, on how to Ollie [VIDEO] - It looks like you aren’t jumping high enough or fast enough.

I loved this guys ollie tutorial [VIDEO], really helped me when I was struggling. I hadn't looked in on his videos lately, but today noticed he put up a _10 Easy Beginner Skateboard Tricks_ clip and thought it was great. This might be helpful to some of the newer skaters looking for something fun to add to cruising around.

I wanted to annotate the gif for you but it was too hard on my computer right now. - Anyway, it looks like your back foot needs to be father back and you should be standing on the ball of your foot. - Practice stationary first, then move on to Ollie while moving. - You seem to have a good pop but you never lift up your back foot, the board will never level if you hold it to the ground with your back foot. Raise it up

Step one: Tighten your trucks a little bit. They seem to be a little loose so you'll have trouble balancing. Step two: Ride your board. Just focus on getting very, very comfortable with cruising around. Practice little kickturns and little carve motions on the pavement before trying any tricks Step three: Make sure that when you are attempting to ollie, you are making it one fluent motion. You have to pop your board

I used to have this same problem! Make sure you are really popping hard, bend your knees and immediately come back up to get maximum force on the tail. Along with that, make sure you are lifting that back foot because if you aren’t it’s just you popping the front up and then down really quickly. This video [VIDEO] really helped me. Especially when he does the motion of an ollie without the board under his feet! Hope
