It depends. Foot placement and weight distrubution are vastly different when rolling compared to being still. If you've just learned how to pop your tail, and your ollies are still pretty rocketed, I suggest putting a bath rug or blanket over the crack to ease some of the squirlyness, and give you the confidence to drag that front foot. If you want any tips, I think VL Skate does an exeptional job of breaking down th

Looking pretty good for getting them rolling! I'm still working on my ollie too so take this with a grain of salt, but what helped me to start getting them higher and leveled was visualizing the entire jump into three steps. You crouch and put your weight evenly distributed between your feet, you extend and push your weight up, pop up off your back foot, slide ur front foot out, and tuck your legs up mid air. Tucking

At the beginning of this [VIDEO] video (130k views, 4.2k likes) the guys does a great job of explaining why you should roll. Go to any non beginner skate forum and ask about standing still while learning a trick. Fuck it, if you are so confident, go to your local skate shop and ask them. Film it too, i'd love to see! Oh, and please explain what you think momentum is to me, and let's see who knows more about physics.

I think what helped me was making sure to lean my weight forward if that makes sense (Moving in the direction of the ollie). You can practice the motion by doing a gallop which really emphasises the forward shift. [VIDEO] - He talks about landing too back heavy which is what stationary ollies can encourage. You can practice by trying from one push then two .. to get used to the speed

I know this is going to sound weird, but I finally learned how to do Ollie’s when I started moving I feel like on your skateboarding you learn your tricks easier when you just move, it opposed to standing still because in a way those are two different tricks and you’ll always be moving on your skateboard anyway. Look up VlSkate on YouTube he has good videos like this one [VIDEO]
