Short RIDE Channel Trick-a-Day tip from 2012 where Tony Hawk and Colin McKay explain and demo the fakie disaster on a mini ramp. It is a fakie rock variation where the back truck goes over the coping.

Why skaters like it

Linked as the reference when someone asks what a backwards rock to fakie is called. Skaters point to it to settle the fakie disaster name.

“Disasters don't need a spin variation, it's just that the back truck is the one to go over the coping rather than the front one (as in a rock).”

It is a fakie shuvit disaster my dude. Disasters don’t need a spin variation, it’s just that the back truck is the one to go over the coping rather than the front one (as in a rock). When going regs you need a 180 to get the back truck over, but when going fakie the back truck is already forward. Tony Hawk, for reference [VIDEO]
