I started skating at 49 a couple of months ago, and I've found these three channels useful for the basics: [VIDEO] [VIDEO] [VIDEO] As others have suggested, go to a local skateshop and ask to stand on different boards of different sizes until you find one that feels right to you. I couldn't get to a shop and bought an 8.25 complete online, and it always felt too big - I've got an 8 now and it's perfect. Wear a helmet

the curving might be because of where your front foot is sitting / where the weight is being applied. The momentum part is a lot about proper technique. I don’t know if you’ve seen this but heres a video I like: how to push [VIDEO] Another tip I got when i started which really helped was to try and film yourself. It sometimes was hard for me to pick apart what was wrong until I saw it from that angle! Good luck and k

I'm not a very experienced skateboarder, and this might not be the right technique, so others can correct me if I'm wrong. But what I do is put my back foot really high forward and do a really big step, which ends with my foot really far back, like maybe how a marching band member puts his foot high up forward. something like this [VIDEO]

Foot placement could use improvement when pushing. Watch this video and practice. [VIDEO] Your balance is great so not much room for improvement there. I'd learn how to do tic-tac's and a crab walk to get a better feel for the board and movement. Lots of information on YouTube!

although the allure of learning tricks is strong when you're just starting out or getting back into skating, there's really no point in trying to learn tricks when you're not confident on your board. confidence = commitment; i don't say this to scare you, but if you're afraid you're going to injure yourself while learning, you have a greater chance of doing so. it's good to build confidence incrementally by starting

Check this out from about 1m14s in: [VIDEO] As you get better and balance well you'll get more push and connection with the ground, taking the foot further ahead and use body momentum and force to push even further
