Skater Stimm drops in on a tall, steep ramp with about a foot of vert extension at a skatepark in October 2016. His wife gives support, and he skates the vert ramp afterward.

Why skaters like it

Linked in beginner threads on dropping in on higher ramps, where steepness and fear matter more than height. A relatable look at a first steep drop in.

“it is all about the steepness of the transition. For example the 5 foot drop in was harder than the 7 because of how steep it was. Yet both were not that hard, it is just in your head.”

I have graduated to 7 foot and very steep 5 foot drop ins, and I have to tell you it is all about the steepness of the transition. For example the 5 foot drop in was harder than the 7 because of how steep it was. Yet both were not that hard, it is just in your head. Here is videos of both: 5' [VIDEO] 7' [VIDEO]

It wasn't mellow at all, it was this wall where the tile is: [LINK] There is actually a steeper 5foot drop in at the same park, it is very steep, almost vert for the first foot. Here is me being a chicken with my wife and doing it for the first time (skip to 2:21 to see me do it). [VIDEO] However the one in the picture with the pool coping is much much higher and more resembles an actual pool.
