Why skaters like it

Linked when beginners ask how a frontside 180 works. Seeing the turn in slow motion shows how the front foot guides the board and the upper body leads.

“Ur front foot has to guide the board and be in contact with the board the whole time and then its impossible for it to flip. Watch slowmotion frontside 180 videos on youtube. …”

no worries! i thought it might be confusing. hard to find the video that first explained it to me but i'll keep looking for now i'll rephrase it and use a slow motion video of the FS180. so first think of just doing an ollie. if you want to ollie more over your nose or someone says stay over your nose more you're snapping the tail not just down but also kind of away in order to stay over that nose. here's the rough top down look with text Nose (-----------------) tail pop this way -----> I like using the mess ups we use rather than the makes or close ones cause it's easier to point out the confusion there. at the 50 second mark you see how even from the back angle you can tell that when you popped you popped with your center of balance more over the back of your board while trying to spin. so of course the rotation point was gonna be towards the back of the board making it so you had a smaller point of rotation. imagine trying to still pop over that nose of your board when you do the 180 to get that point of rotation bigger. you can see it again at 59 seconds. in the 180 the tail eventually rotates to where your nose is and if you don't pop over your nose in the start properly it b…

Ur front foot has to guide the board and be in contact with the board the whole time and then its impossible for it to flip. Watch slowmotion frontside 180 videos on youtube. ( [VIDEO] ) this will help you get a visual understanding of how it works. Edit: depending on what actually happens maybe u have to put your front foot more to your toe side, scootch it up a bit. Because your foot might slide down a bit while you slide your foot. Also a 180 is just an ollie where your shoulders turn frontside. Maybe you are sliding your foot to the side off the board to help the board turn 180? In that case just slide as an ollie to the nose of the board while you swing your arms shoulders and head frontside

Backside 180 [VIDEO] Frontside 180 [VIDEO] Notice with the frontside, you are facing forwards into the turn with your upper body, while with the backside you are facing backwards. BS 180 are a little more difficult since you aren't looking in front of you, they can seem scary at first.
