Okay, I'll give you a rundown on some of the tips I've ~~stolen~~ come up with, and learned in the short time I've been skating! Trick tips: * Learn to Ollie, it's the basis behind a lot of flip tricks and without it, you'll be left helpless when you find a three inch curb you want to jump up onto! Although the Ollie definitely is an important stepping stone to skating, don't let it take over your life like cocaine does, try other things at the park! Whether it's a shuv-it on flatground a no comply bs 180 to fakie shuv, you'll have fun trying! * Don't get angry, if you get angry while attempting a trick over and over again, take a second to cool down, maybe listen to your happy song or try doing something you know you can land to build up some more confidence, if you're angry you're not going to have a good time! And that's what its all about... * WATCH VIDEOS. Yes, watch videos on skateboarding. A lot of people have told me that that's stupid or lame but trust me, and when I say videos on skateboarding I mean the resource videos that show you how to ollie or how to kickflip. A good website I like to use is The Ride Channel. [LINK] They have great how-to videos that will show you s…
I'm telling you, don't try for a perfect kickflip when you're still learning. When I was learning I mobbed them straight down and landed with my feet together. Any time you land it you will be stoked beyond belief and that helps immensely with confidence and learning. When you land one like a kook you'll see how you can change it, find out what works, and land it comfortably and under control. When I was learning I wanted to kickflip like Luan Oliveira, like how he holds at the nose and blasts straight out like a ninja. I realized that doesn't work for me and that I kickflip like this guy, specifically at 1:08 in the video [VIDEO] By the way, what seems to be your problem with kickflips? TLDR: Don't work towards what you think will work, just work and find out what works as you go. You don't have to kickflip like Reynolds to be cool. Your style is cool.
Pay special attention to your flicking foot, and make sure you are doing the same motions. Flicking "down" typically causes the board to move sideways. Flicking "up" helps keep the board parallel with your shoulders. [VIDEO]
the flick is faster and driven by the ankle. it’s a subtle movement that you will pick up with practice. mike mo does them proper [VIDEO] the first overhead view will show you what i mean about the ankle movement. dennis durant has an exceptional kickflip as well. [VIDEO]
I had the same problem and now i land them occasionally but now i can't land heels at all but this [VIDEO] video helped me understand the basic concept then on top of that just tons of attempts. Hope it helps.
