Check out this Sarah Park-Matott video, might give you some idea: [VIDEO] The skaters at school sound more like schoolkids bullying anyone they can rather than skaters who actually care about skating (rather than showing off maybe). Almost everyone I meet at the skatepark is great. Just a few little pieces of advice: Get a decent board! Don't get a cheap supermarket or Amazon board or you'll spend more money fixing it up than if you'd bought something half decent. Or more likely you'll just give up. Also don't balance, just keep your legs pointing towards the ground. And let the board get away from you if it wants. Being super confident in the dismount is the most important thing, but nobody mentions it! Don't be scared of the skatepark. There are only two rules: wait your turn, and while you are waiting keep out of everyone's way. Don't suck isn't a rule at the skatepark. Looking forward to welcoming you to skating!
