Ben Degros explains which woodshops press decks for major skate brands, including BBS, Generator and PS Stix, and how distributors supply boards that companies then put graphics on. Links to factory how-it's-made videos.

Why skaters like it

Posted in r/NewSkaters whenever someone asks which deck brand is best. It shows most decks come from a few woodshops, so quality differences are small.

“most companies get their boards from one of a few distributors, and just put a graphic on it. BBS, the one that krooked and baker come from, is generally regarded as one of the best”

Yep! Its just all about the woodshop now. Here is a forum post of most of the top brands, and where they source their decks from. People have different opinions on which woodshops are 'good' and 'bad', but you can't go wrong with any of the top ones (BBS is my personal favorite, never had a bad deck from them). [LINK] Edit: Here is a really good video that goes over the woodshops (Ben Degros is the man) [VIDEO]

most companies get their boards from one of a few distributors, and just put a graphic on it. BBS, the one that krooked and baker come from, is generally regarded as one of the best, if not the best. overall, though, the difference is pretty minimal even between different manufacturers as long as they're of high quality here's a great video [VIDEO]

I could say what I personally like but I think this video is far more informative when it comes to brands / wood shops [VIDEO] I’d checkout board widths that fit your height / weight / terrain you want to ride and narrow it down from there.
