One-minute Berrics Trickipedia entry from 2012 showing a clean HD ollie by Levi Brown. Part of a series that explains how skate tricks work and what they are called.

Why skaters like it

Posted in r/NewSkaters as an ollie reference. Skaters slow it down to watch how the front foot slides up into the nose and how the back knee tucks.

“The best thing to watch like that would probably just be watching this [VIDEO] on a slower speed in the youtube settings and watching how the front foot rolls and how far his front foot goes up/into the nose.”

Look back at your video. Notice some things happening as you rise back up? As you come back up, your front shoulder immediately starts pulling behind you, causing you to simultaneously pop off center and your front foot to start swinging around frontside which in turn makes your waist follow. Start doing them rolling ASAP, I feel that forces you to just commit to the idea of doing a trick right much faster and you ge

Hey man. Be careful about skating inside cause you might get hurt, break tiles, or shoot your board out and break things... which just means less time on your board. Other than that, if you watch your clip, it seems that you arch you back over your toe edge of your board [LINK], instead of squatting down square with your shoulders parallel to the board like in this video [VIDEO]. This gets you off balance. Second is

You've got the right idea. I disagree with the person who says you're doing the slide in the wrong direction. The slide needs to lift the nose up towards you. You're generally done sliding and already have your foot on the nose by the time it gets up to it's high point. There's a second step after that point and this seems to be where you could use some improvement. Your front foot needs to push the nose forward and

Looks like your front foot didn't slide as much as it should, and you kind of rocket-ollied. You got the timing down from what I can see at this angle (would be easier to see from the side to see how close the board is to the lip), what brings the board up after the initial pop is the foot slide. A lot of people are told to bring the back foot up, to prevent anchoring and rocket ollies, which is 100% correct, but it

You actually already have a pretty solid technique. Your pop is great, however the flick is a little mellow and that’s why the board looks rocketed. Mentally tell yourself to slide that front foot into the concave of your nose and to also follow through and push the nose forward. Ollie reference video [VIDEO] by trickipedia.

tap your foot quickly to the floor as you jump straight up into the air as high as you can. use your front foot to push forward and level out the board as you get to the highest peak of your jump. brace for impact and roll away smooth. good luck and don’t give up [VIDEO]

But it doesn't. You still need to change the way you drag your front foot. Nothing about an ollie has a "flick" in it. [VIDEO]
