VLSkate's How To episode 18 teaches the pop shove-it. It covers the scoop, keeping the board level, and using the front foot to catch the board.

Why skaters like it

Gets linked in r/NewSkaters whenever someone struggles with shuvits. One commenter says it got them both a shuvit and a pop shove-it in under an hour.

“… I struggled with shuvits, and after watching VLSkates video I landed both a pop shove it and a shuvit is less than an hour.”

Your foot position is weird. Are you trying to shuvit or pop shuvit? [VIDEO] Also you gotta commit even if you crash. Get those feet on

Try to jump higher and pop the tail of the board on the ground. You'll have an easier time staying above the board and getting the board to rotate. Your rolling shuvits aren't rotating because the back wheels are dragging on the ground. The tail really needs to hit the ground to get the wheels in the air. Watch [VIDEO] note the pop.

You have to follow the board forward in the air so you do jump forward a bit. Watch this : [VIDEO] This guy has the best tutorials on Youtube and he always find a way to break down a trick into steps that you can practice on their own before it all comes together. I prefer pop shuvits and find them easier, and this pulled me out of a rut, but the dynamics are similar since both of them need some forward movement, especially when you not that good at them.

I was confused with what I was supposed to do with my back foot, it sounds dumb but I just couldn’t get my head around it But the way you explained is super simple and easy, so thanks :) Edit: holy shit I can do a pop shuvit, thank you so fucking much. I’d give you an award but I got no money, sorry ( if it matters I watched these vids, probably doesn’t any more tho) [VIDEO] [VIDEO] [VIDEO]

You want to lift your non-scooping foot high into the air and then stomp down when your board has come round. Are you also jumping forward (parallel to your board)? This is a great video by VLSkate [VIDEO] where he breaks down the various movements into smaller exercises that might help. He also goes into more detail re: stomping and jumping Edit: 3:00 and 5:15 are your timestamps

I'd actually recommend VLSkate's video [VIDEO] . Braille is great and all, but some of their tutorials are lacking. I struggled with shuvits, and after watching VLSkates video I landed both a pop shove it and a shuvit is less than an hour.

I think stationary shuvits are going to land on a different place than before. I've seen most stationary pop shuvits like this [VIDEO] (example video at 1:50). Also I hope the video could help. Goodluck on trying to do shuvits!

Use your front foot to stop the rotation, Idk how to explain it well but this [VIDEO] guy breaks it down REALLY well. Also it’s a really good channel in general. Good Luck👍
