Adnan Can explains a different way to pop the tail: flick down from the ankle like a slap instead of stamping the back foot. Uses clips of Nigel from the Braille Channel to show the motion.

Why skaters like it

Linked in r/NewSkaters whenever an ollie looks stamped or the board pins down. Commenters say it changed how they pop and gave them a higher ollie.

“You're stamping your back foot down on the board, you need to flick down with your ankle as though you were slapping it. …”

The longer you can avoid putting downward pressure on the board the longer you will stay in the air. Try and avoid pushing down with your front foot and just fall with your board. Also, when you pop try flick with your toes rather than stamping down, you will get a much higher pop. This video shows good technique for popping your board: [VIDEO] Anyway, keep at it. It takes a lot of practice and it's definitely a journey. Good luck!
