Why skaters like it

Beginners link it to show how a heelflip really works. Slow motion shows the foot sliding off the side of the board, not kicking out with the heel.

“A heel flip isn’t done with the heel, it’s done with the side of your foot.”

What you're doing is probably the right way. I thought heelflips literally required you to kick the board outwards with the bottom of your heel, but this [VIDEO] video shows it the way you describe it, so I guess you're doing it right. It's great progress for 1 month though! I'm kinda working on this too, although it's been 3 months and I can just about flick the board, but not land it.

Oh i mean which way does it flip, Like if the boards flipping away from you its a heelflip, towards you its a kickflip. Although maybe it's easier to just show you :) Kickflip [VIDEO] - Heelflip [VIDEO]

When you flick forward (the way your toes point, the weight of your leg moving that way pulls you in front of the board. The flick should go more in the direction of the nose. A heel flip isn’t done with the heel, it’s done with the side of your foot. Slide your foot much more in the direction the nose of the board points. It should almost feel like doing an Ollie and then your foot just keeps going past the nose. Be

I should have went more into detail with the slide vs flick theory when I made the original comment. I hate to use the word slide for my explanation, cause it isn't really even a slide, it's just the way to get your knee higher. Watch this video here. It's pretty hard to explain the slide vs flick in words honestly. [VIDEO]
