Adam Shomsky's Skateology breakdown of fakie bigger spin kickflips, filmed at 1,000 fps on a Redlake N3. Skaters are Scott Hartzel, Chris Sorini, Nate Patrick and Zach Hootman.

Why skaters like it

Linked when skaters ask what a bigger flip is or how it is caught. Slow motion shows body and board rotation clearly enough to study.

“… I like these videos because you can study the motions of the skater. It's definitely a back foot catch.”

For a bigger flip [VIDEO] your body turns 180 in the same direction the board spins.

Here is a big spin in slow motion. You can see the skater spins 180, and the board spins 360. [VIDEO] In the OP, the skater and the board both only rotate 180. So it is not a big spin. A bigger spin would be the skater rotating 360, and the board rotating 540. [VIDEO] Big flip (skater does 180, board does 360 flip) in slow motion [VIDEO] Bigger flip (skater does 360, board does 540) in slow motion [VIDEO] Hope that clears it up.

Here's a good video [VIDEO], I can't do these and have no idea but I like these videos because you can study the motions of the skater. It's definitely a back foot catch.
