I don't have a ton of advice but look into a Powell-Peralta Flight Deck. Instead of being 7-ply it's got 5-ply + 2 layers of carbon fiber making for an extremely durable skateboard. Here's a demonstration of its durability: link [VIDEO]
Flight decks consist of 5 maples plys with a sheet of fiberglass inserted in the middle of the plys. It also has reinforcements on the mounting holes. This results in a lighter but stronger deck. [VIDEO] Powell does offer regular decks for ~$50 as well.
