Why skaters like it

Beginners link it in r/NewSkaters whenever someone can't land a shuvit. Several say it made the motion click and a few credit it for their first one.

You don't need heaps of power for shuvs, your knees should barely bend for the setup. Front foot just goes up and down, all rotation comes from the back foot. If you learn how to do it with your back foot centred you'll have an easier time learning pop shoves, but you can hang your toes off the edge to get more grip. [VIDEO]

Im sure you will like it. Here is a video with the same technique [VIDEO]. Look at his foot position and make it horizontal like his. It also took me a long time to learn, but nowadays its my safest trick and I never slip out on it. Pop shuvits are a different thing tho:D

One thing that helps me is remembering to turn my hips slightly towards the board as it's spinning. When you scoop, you are displacing your back foot from where it should be when you land. I find that by turning I'm able to catch it where I'm supposed to. [VIDEO]

If the board is flipping like a varial, you are lifting your front foot/leg too much. The front foot stabilizes the board and prevents it from flipping during the rotation. How to Shuv [VIDEO]

This video really helped me learn how to shuvit better, not perfect, but better. [VIDEO] TL;DW: Keep your backfoot at the point where the curve of the tail starts, with your toes hanging over the edge. Then use the leverage to spin the board, needing little to no pop. Edit: Since you are saying it goes forward and in front, are you trying a FS spin or BS spin?

And with the Shuvit (minus the Pop), your tail shouldn’t hit the ground. Focus on keeping the ball of your back foot on the outside of the tail, start the weight transition (half-pop) and sweep the tail backwards using that pressure. This video helped me! Shuvit Tutorial [VIDEO]

have you seen this [VIDEO] video yet? I think the important takeaway is to have your back foot in that little curve between the tail and the side of the board. That'll give you a nice scoop when you jump up.

If you want to just regular shuv, non pop then hang your toe off the board and scoop hard behind you. Watch this [VIDEO]
