Why skaters like it

Posted whenever someone asks what a dolphin flip is or how it differs from a varial flip. Slow motion shows the vertical flip and the up and down motion.

“A dolphin has to have the up and down. The up and down is why it's named a dolphin flip. Because it looks like a dolphin doing a flip out of the water.”

Not to detract from your land but this is a Kickflip body Varial. [VIDEO] 1000 FPS Dolphin Flip for reference.

Basically a vertical varial flip, but you flick it differently. Youtube clip [VIDEO]

It's a varial flip man. Just because you're pushing rotation with your front foot doesn't make it a dolphin. A dolphin has to have the up and down [VIDEO]. The up and down is why it's named a dolphin flip. Because it looks like a dolphin doing a flip out of the water.

I don't know how to explain it but this [VIDEO] and I use it as an endgame in skate a lot, but basically do a kickflip but kick straight up your board and instead of flicking out, bone it really hard. Experiment with having your foot pointed and straight. I started out pointed but I can only do them with my foot straight like an ollie but with my toes under the bolts and halfway on the board. it shold be the tip of y

Looks very much like a 180 dolphin flip, I used to love doing these back in the day! But the first part is the dolphin flip, then the 180 follows onto transition. This is so sweet, well done OP 💪 Dolphin Flip -[VIDEO]
