It’s easier to do them while you’re rolling (even slowly). For the side you are having issues with (heel side), it helps to look where you want to go and unwind your shoulder past your hip. Here’s a good video: tic tac vid [VIDEO] Cool that you took vid in front of “no skateboarding” sign 😂 You got This!

I'm also new and I was struggling this for a while. I only maybe sorta figured it out a day or two ago so take this with a grain of salt. For me, what was helpful was thinking of myself as pushing off the ground with my front foot - essentially, I'm pushing the board to one side (giving it momentum) then pivoting it and turning that sideways momentum into forward momentum. But to do that push you have to actually have weight on the front foot in the first place. So you put weight on the front foot, switch weight to back foot, pivot, push down on front foot, repeat. And you also need to tilt the board while doing so - tilt it toeside as you do your toeside pivot, then heelside as you do your heelside pivot. That way you're maximizing the extent to which you're pushing the board. Or something like that. The way that I sorta figured this out was trying to kickturn in a circle while maintaining or increasing my momentum. Pushing off the front foot as you begin to pivot helps you actually roll in a circle rather than just spinning around. My tic tacs are still pretty bad but I'm getting a little forward momentum now so I think I have the basic motion down and just need to practice. A co…

I think it is crucial for you to start this stationary. Try this kick turn tutorial [VIDEO] and this manual tutorial [VIDEO]. Practice stationary ~0.25 second manuals, basically it's just lifting your nose for a short time. I'd say this is a good intro to kick turns, tic tacs, reverts, "real" manuals and generally good for balance. You want to avoid injuries, +1 for wearing pads, but you can still hurt yourself. Work on any trick in steps: 1. stationary first, possibly while holding onto something like a handrail and/or on a grass or a carpet, 2. stationary without holding on, on a grass or a carpet, 3. stationary on concrete, 4. really slow (~2km/h or whatever slowest is comfortable for you), 5. then gradually increase to cruise speed, 6. cruise speed down an obstacle, 7. and up an obstacle
