Why skaters like it

Posted in r/NewSkaters whenever someone can't land a shove it or pop shove it. Fixes the back foot landing and the scooping motion.

“This is 100% the best breakdown of how to build up the skills to do a shuv-it. Carlos Lastra breaks it down very clearly and is an excellent instructor.”

I've watched a lot of videos and taken bits and pieces from each, but this braille video with Carlos explains the motion perfectly. [VIDEO] at 2:55 he explains the exact motion, sort of like tripping. Watch the whole video but that part specifically opened my mind and now I can do shove its back to back to back. I know you're doing pop shove its but you might as well learn the first step- normal shove its. Good luck

I was having some trouble getting my back foot back on the board and found the following braille video helpful. You also seem to rush your attempt, the last attempt you're not settled on the board and rush it. I do the same, I just smash attempt after attempt and when I get tired I lose my form a bit and am not settled on the board. Keep going though dude, good job! [VIDEO]

This is 100% the best breakdown of how to build up the skills to do a shuv-it. Carlos Lastra breaks it down very clearly and is an excellent instructor. Starting with basics off the board, all the way to doing it rolling. I just started skating again after not doing it for 15 years and this video helped me land my first shuv-its. [VIDEO]

I would try recording yourself and scrubbing through the video frame by frame. Compare your video to one of somebody doing the trick properly and see if anything is different. Make notes of every little thing you might be doing wrong and make an effort to correct those mistakes. Tutorials are good but they can't give the right tip for every possible issue somebody might have with a trick - like for an Ollie a tutoria

Jump forward.. as in jump towards your toes. Try to land with your front foot first then your back foot. This video really helped me. [VIDEO] Carlos is the best.
