I assume you don't really need to know the physics of it. I'd recommend doing a little google or YouTube searching about the various parts of the skateboard. That's mostly what I'd assume you would need to know. Maybe watch some assembly videos? [VIDEO] Basic parts: The Deck - This is the main, wooden part. The Trucks: These are pretty much "the axles". The Wheels: Self-Explanatory, I'm sure you know what they are. Bearings: The small, metal ring-shaped things inside the wheels. Griptape: The sandpaper-like stuff on top of the board. That's just a brief explanation, but just learn about the parts of a skateboard themselves, as an average skateboarder that's my suggestion. Maybe learn what the different sizes of wheels are better for, what widths of board go with various shoe sizes/people sizes, etc.

The necessary parts are: * Deck * Trucks * Wheels * Griptape * Bearings * Hardware (Sometimes comes with trucks) Putting it together is very easy, see this [VIDEO] for how to do it. Put together a cart/wishlist on [LINK] or some other similar website and see how much it would end up costing for what you want. Or go to your cities local skateshop (Zumiez doesn't count) and they will give you some more advice. (blankdecks.com is really cheap, its where I get all my stuff if I can't go to the local shop for some reason)
