What skaters said on Reddit
Glad to help! Right now my traditional board has spitfire 52 mm 101duro wheels (hard). I live in a uni city with lots of bike lanes and find them mostly suitable around town if my buddy comes thru and wants to use the cruiser. in the skatepark, they've perfect size for me, but it is really about preference. This vid is super comprehensive and should gives quick and nice info on different wheel sizes/shapes/hardness:
It really doesn't matter what wheel size you have for dropping in, the real question is what hardness do you want your wheels, if you still want to do tricks while on vert/transition get wheels between soft and hard, but if you just want to have fun skating vert/transition get softer wheels. If you couldn't understand anything I said watch this video [VIDEO].
[VIDEO] this vid would help. from what ive read though, basically: soft wheels - grippy, better for rough ground, absorbs all of the crust, harder for tricks hard wheels - better for tricks, not so good for rough ground for trucks, independent trucks are the market standard(?). ace, thunder, and venture trucks are good, and some have mixed reviews on krux trucks
Also, i saw a video of Tactics Boardshop that softer wheels tend to be bouncy and it difficults the landing: [VIDEO] it says somewhere in thw video But i'm thinking… if i put all my weight on the skateboard in the landing.
