Thrasher Classics episode on Neil Blender, a 1980s original known for inventing tricks like the Donner Party. Short 2010 piece on his odd, creative style.
Why skaters like it
Cited in an r/skateboarding thread on 80s ramp sizes as a look at Blender's skating from that era. Worth watching as a quick intro to one of skating's true originals.
“the standard for what? for Contests? yes i agree with you. but from early to mid 80s there were a lot of ramps built by pros and some used in contests that were not 12 foot. …”

the standard for what? for Contests? yes i agree with you. but from early to mid 80s there were a lot of ramps built by pros and some used in contests that were not 12 foot. Such as the clown ramp, [VIDEO], this ramp [VIDEO], and i think even Lance's Mountain Manor looks pretty small. [VIDEO]. Neil Blender makes Joe Lopes' ramp look small. [VIDEO] No contest today with the top pros would use anything less than a 12 footer.
