You can use any flat soled shoe, but the biggest issue is durability. Canvas shoes rip very easily when practicing Ollie's and flip tricks, most of the wear will be on the toe box where your scraping the shoe against the board. It will likely last a week or 2 at most. Unless your buying them on clearance, not worth it. Always go for Suede shoes at the minimum, shoes that have a additional reinforcement at the toe box and strong adhesive for the soles will last longer. You can use shoe goo to repair any holes or reinforce the toe box and other areas with wear beforehand [VIDEO] You can also use non abrasive grip tape if you have to use canvas shoes Overall though if your buying something new, just get skate shoes. I reccomend the etnies Michelin or most things from etnies. Tips for getting cheap skate shoes Go on amazon search up skate shoes, and sort by lowest price, then click the size button to filter your size, scroll down a bit until you reach ones that are suede and look decent. I see a lot of cheaper shoes from DC. Check discount retail stores like Ross frequently, they often have a lot of options that are marke down and still suitable.
