A 69 second ollie tutorial with Jake Eames, filmed by TSC Films at a beach in Los Angeles in 2006. It covers the basic ollie motion with a short, clear demo.

Why skaters like it

Gets linked in r/NewSkaters threads when someone cannot ollie. Short enough to rewatch and shows foot position and timing clearly.

A few things: Your back foot placement. The ball of your foot/toes should be the only thing touching the center of the tail [VIDEO]. Having your whole foot on the tail isn't gonna help with the next step. When you press down with your back foot, you don't keep pressing until the board hits the ground. You push down with your back foot and jump before the tail of the board even has time to touch the ground. It's all timing. When it's done right, the tail continues traveling to the ground, your back foot is in the air, and your front foot is sliding up the deck to start leveling it out once the tail pops on the ground.

Hey OP. You pointed out most of your mistakes. Your left shoulder turns which inadvertently spins the board out from under your legs and in front of you, and it forces your left foot to step on the ground as per the clip. You almost have a pop shove it motion. Keep your shoulders parallel with the board so you stay over it. You don't drag your foot front up to and through the nose. If you do that, the board will get off the ground and level out in the air. When snapping your tail, bring your back knee up so that the board can level out in the air when you are dragging your front foot up and through the nose. Watch this video by Braille. Seems to be the most in depth ollie tutorial on YT these days. [VIDEO] Once you get that down, you can visualize how to ollie better by watching Jake Eames: [VIDEO] Hope this helps.
