Some people are able to land it without the flick, I haven't been able to do that, because when I do the board flips too slow even though it does the full rotation and flip. But, trying to flick and pop at the same time really helps me, flicking as early as I can speeds it up. Learning where to put my weight to create pressure and experimenting with foot placement was key too. This video was really useful for me: [VI

You need to focus on the scoop more, this video [VIDEO] explains what I means. You build up the counter pressure between your two feet and really emphazise that scoopy motion and throw it behind you. Learning it on slick ground helps a lot too. It takes a lot of power and technique to be able to do them well on rougher non slick ground. Harder wheels can help a bit too.
