Obligatory Skate IQ shorts: [VIDEO] [VIDEO] [VIDEO]
I think the most important thing is to really feel confident on the board. Practice riding with one foot, hippie jumps, and manuals. Ollie should be consistent, but if you're impatient, you can also practice kickflips out of a manual. This video explains what I mean. [VIDEO]
The flick is in your ankle. It’s not a karate kick. When my kickflips are off. I’ll practice just flicking and landing with the front foot only. When I feel like my ankle warmed up, then I’ll try to land. I haven’t tried this method but it makes sense to me. [VIDEO]
Genuine question. How is this a bad habit? Yes, he's flicking early, but the tension built between the front and back foot [VIDEO] can be applied leading up to the pop. If you watch his back foot, it does exactly what I described. Everybody's different, but this is how I learned rolling kickflips. I even buckle my knees on the lead up to sort of make it automatic. Just wondering which bad habits you're referring to.
A kickflip and an ollie are not that far apart. I would suggest getting comfortable enough on your board that you do NOT need to hold somthing. [VIDEO] [VIDEO]
