AlexBskating and friends Steven and Casey find a rough street spot and smooth it with a rub brick so the ledge grinds better. Shows how the tool works and what the spot feels like after.

Why skaters like it

Posted in beginner threads when someone asks how to fix a crusty ledge or curb that will not grind, usually next to a wax tip.

“… If the ledge is crusty you'll need some wax, if it's very crusty you could use a rub brick to smoothen it down. …”

You could try waxing it, with some skate wax / paraffin wax / candle. If that doesn't help, you could buy a Rub Brick to grind the roughness down. Some people like to apply clear coat after sanding it down with the rub brick. Video [VIDEO] on how it's done.

It's like sanding for concrete. You use a special brick like sander. At least that's what I think. [VIDEO]
