Check out the welcome team video [VIDEO]. Clearly people are ripping it up with shaped decks but then again it came with practice and skill. Any deck you'll have to get used to so doubt the deck will be the limiting factor. I'm currently thinking of picking up the Ryan Lay welcome pro model because it just looks badass and I'm hyped to skate it. Obviously wider decks won't spin as fast but as you can see shaped decks don't hold people back. You'll never know if you don't try. I want to move up from a 8.0 so I don't have any qualms getting new trucks because even if I'm not a fan of the welcome deck I'll just get a regular 8.5 popsicle. You just need to figure out if you're OK with trying it out. I've searched for reviews and what not and even for more popular brands you'll never find a definitive review because decks really come down to personal preference. Hope that helps.
