Mike Boyd, a non-skater, records himself learning ollies and then a kickflip from scratch using deliberate practice. He lands his first kickflip after 5 hours and 47 minutes, based on the 10,000 hours idea from Outliers.

Yeah people were definitely being assholes to you. A big reason why is that you aren't comfortable on the board though. Seems like you're going straight into ollies rather than getting comfortable standing on and riding around. How's your pushing and cruising ability? The idea is that once you're comfortable on the board, everything else comes a lot easier and you're learning more naturally. I mean sure, you can be l

Your ollies are looking solid, I reckon you'll be able to get your first kickflip within a month if you put your mind at it and practise hard (got mine within 2 weeks) :) Anyway, heres some inspiration - [VIDEO] this guy got his kickflip within a VERY short time frame yet he had never picked up a skateboard before. Keep shredding bro✌

You can learn anything you want off the bat really. Just like with everything in life you'll get good at the things you practice. I knew kids who couldn't do a simple fs 180 but had no problem landing 360 flips down flights of stairs. The thing is, people are different and will gravitate towards either tricks that come natural to them or tricks that they think are cool. There's really no wrong way to go about it - pr

Yah I slowed it down and watched it several times that's not mob that's a decent flick. You want to see mob? [VIDEO] Mike Boyd's learn to kickflip in 5 hours skip to 5:18. That's a mob flip. Watch other skaters with nice kickflips a lot of them will at some point have their front foot slightly below the board for a small period of time. Very few keep the foot completely above the board at all times, someone like John

[VIDEO], at around 5:03 you see how he kinda Ollies then pushes the board down sorta in two motions, that’s what a mobbed flip is. Normal kick flips are more like a extension of the Ollie motion, as you drag your foot foot up the board you flick it off in one motion.
