Ben Raybourn 2015 X Games Austin

Well I agree with the scoring, just because it's creative doesn't mean that it isn't still a contest. They will judge you by the difficulty of the other competitors, and while a lot of his tricks were difficult i would hardly call a blunt hop [VIDEO] or a coffin roll in [VIDEO] to be hugely technical tricks. That being said I really enjoy seeing people like Ben who still have the spirit and attitude to show that side of skateboarding. To show the public that skateboarding is fun, and not so serious. To show that while it is a contest that you can still have a little self expression and creativity. You used to see this stuff after people had the contest in the bag and they could take a throwaway run and mess around with it. But with how contests are scored now you just don't see that anymore because the scoring is based on your two best runs and a lot of contests are moving into a jam format.
